INNOVATION

THE FLEX TURBINE® – Reliable Gas Turbine Generators

Adapted from the Dresser Rand KG2 by Ingersoll Rand in the early 2000’s, the Flex Turbine is the most reliable small gas turbine generator with proven high uptime in harsh environmental conditions. Now matured and deployed by FlexEnergy Solutions, its performance has been proven over fifteen years of operations on a wide range of gases and varied environmental conditions throughout the world.

FUEL TOLERANCE

  • Wide Acceptable Gas Range; ~350 Btu/scf to ~2500 Btu/scf
  • Sour Gas tolerant; up to 6,500 ppmv H2S
  • Acid Gas tolerant; up to 70% CO2
  • Low Supply Pressure Gas; Internal Gas Booster option
  • Can burn up to 30% hydrogen

EFFICIENCY HIGH PERFORMANCE

  • With a synchronous generator, Flex Turbines are the ONLY ‘micro’ turbine that share the same technology as larger gas turbine generators. A single unit is capable of starting 125 HP motor Direct Online
  • Cyclical load control: Integrated controls with Generator Braking Resistor
  • High-Efficiency CHP: Up to 85% total with internal cogeneration heat exchanger
  • Automatic paralleling and synchronizing: Multiply units paralleled for operating high horsepower loads
  • Low exhaust emissions; Certified to California Natural Gas Distributed Generation Standard

EMISSIONS AND ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS

  • Avoids flaring: Flex Turbine reliably generates power using collected flare gas and vent gas.
  • Eliminates diesel usage: Site gas is used for power. No need to transport diesel fuel to power generators.
  • Clean air: Meets most stringent state and federal requirements for air permitting.
  • Low sound: runs quiet and emits only 62 dB(A) measured at 10 meters and with low sound options, produces only 55 dB(A) measured at 10 meters.
  • GHG Reduction: Facility CO2 footprints are reduced when powered by Flex Turbines (approximately one-third less than using traditional generation and boiler).

FLEX TURBINE EMISSIONS MEET THE STRICTEST STANDARDS

Flex Turbines are robust, industrial-grade systems that burn cleaner than any gas turbines in their class. They transform associated flare and natural gases from operations into a continuous source of clean electric power, no matter the working conditions. Its low NOx emissions on a wide range of associated and methane gases meets air quality standards for expedited permitting.

TECHNOLOGY:
  • Transforms associated flare and waste gases and tank vapors from oil and gas operations into a continuous source of clean electric power.
  • Is certified/complies with the strictest California Air Resources Natural Gas Distributed Generation Standards (when operating on pipeline natural gas and fitted with cogeneration heat exchanger).
  • Converts biogases from landfills, wastewater treatment plants, and digesters into useful power and heat for use on site.
  • Eliminates the need for diesel transport, simultaneously cutting added emissions from typical diesel- or gas-powered reciprocating engine turbines.

GT2000S POWERED by SIEMENS

Another adaptation of the Dresser Rand KG2, the legendary GT2000S gas turbine was first installed in 1972. Since then, over 1,000 units have been installed in 62 countries worldwide, onshore and offshore, in continuous duty operations in all types of environments. The highly versatile gas turbine generator sets are used for a variety of baseload and emergency power generation applications – from fixed and floating installations offshore, to onshore oil fields, on rooftops, and integrated into buildings for simple cycle and combined heat and power (CHP) duties. Because of their simple, low maintenance design, high reliability and operational experience, the GT2000S turbine generator packages are the preferred solution for 2MW power requirements. The wide fuel range enables operation on extremely low heating value fuels, landfill gas, and associated gas from crude oil production.

FUEL TOLERANCE

  • Wide Acceptable Gas Range; ~350 Btu/scf to ~2300 Btu/scf
  • Sour Gas tolerant; 15,000 ppm by mass H2S
  • Acid Gas tolerant
  • Can burn up to 5% hydrogen – 100% expected by 2025

EFFICIENCY HIGH PERFORMANCE

  • High-EfficiencyCHP: Up to 85% with HRSG and/or Absorption Chiller
  • Automatic paralleling and synchronizing: Multiply units paralleled for operating high horsepower loads
  • Low exhaust emissions; ≤10ppm NOx and CO, corrected to 15% Oxygen on natural gas at ISO conditions

EMISSIONS AND ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS

  • Avoids flaring: The GT2000S reliably generates power using collected flare gas and vent gas.
  • Eliminates diesel usage: Site gas is used for power. No need to transport diesel fuel to power generators.
  • Clean air: Meets the most stringent state and federal requirements for air permitting.
  • Low sound: runs quiet and emits only 85 dB(A) measured at 1 meter and 1.5 meter height.  Also has low sound options which can be quoted upon request.
  • GHG Reduction: Facility CO2 footprints are reduced when powered by GT2000S.

  • Dry Low Emissions (DLE) with four can combustors – similar to the single can DLE combustor design of the GT333S Flex Turbine.

SPECIALTY TURBINE CONFIGURATIONS

Configurations can be engineered and manufactured to agreed-upon specifications.

Specialty configurations may include externally fired Flex and GT2000S turbines. The combustor and fuel system are removed so that the turbine can be powered by an external heat source. Other versions can be engineered and manufactured to agreed-upon specifications.

The Flex and GT2000S turbines are built with modular main components of a core engine, combustor, gearbox, generator, fuel system, and enclosure. Lubrication and cooling systems are also included in the enclosure. This modular design philosophy allows special and custom turbine configurations to be built. Individual main components can be modified or designed out of the custom turbine configurations.
