A large independent E&P company operating approximately 50,000 net acres in the Permian Basin of west Texas needed reliable electric power to support its aggressive field development plan. The development plan was part of the company’s strategy to become a Permian pure play operator and called for operating four drilling rigs and an investment of over $700 million to drill and complete more than 100 new horizontal wells.
