Digester Gas

FlexEnergy power generating systems are a simple solution to generate valuable power from waste gas.  The Flex Powerstation™ FP250 and Flex Turbine™ MT250 are ideal for wastewater treatment plants, agricultural and animal waste processing plants, dairies and other biogas applications because of its ability to generate clean electricity from digester gas methane while producing hot water to optimize digester conditions.

Flex Turbine™ MT250

Biogas produced by digesters makes an excellent fuel for the 250 kW Flex Turbine™. The electricity produced can offset retail power and supply the facility’s on-site load, or this renewable, green energy can be sold to the utility grid.  An internal combined heat & power system produces hot water to warm the digesters for optimum operation. The Flex Turbine’s™ ability to run in dual mode enables energy security in the event of a grid outage, where power can be directed to priority loads. Remote monitoring does not require on-site supervision, and the turbine is designed to run reliably and continuously with minimal interruption.

The heart of the MT250 is a simple, powerful, single shaft design matched to a synchronous generator to provide clean continuous electricity. This robust gas turbine runs reliably on digester gas, operates in dual mode and offers integrated heat recovery.

The Flex Turbine™ complies with the California Air Resources Board (CARB) 2008 limits for distributed generation using digester gas fuels. With less than 9 ppmv of NOx, CO and most VOC emissions, the Flex Turbine™ MT250 readily meets air quality standards and environmental regulations, resulting in expedited permitting.

Flex Powerstation™ FP250

The Flex Powerstation™ is ideal for anaerobic digester applications in emissions sensitive locations or situations with low energy gas.  It oxidizes digester methane gas at a temperature high enough to virtually eliminate VOSs and CO and low enough to avoid creating oxides of nitrogen. With less than 1 part per million of NOx, CO and VOC emissions, the Flex Powerstation™ meets the most stringent air quality regulations, resulting in simple and fast permitting. The 250 kW system integrates its gradual oxidizer with proven gas turbine technology for the cleanest and most advanced power generation of its kind. The Flex PowerstationTM is well suited to low quality, low pressure, contaminant-rich gas streams, which can be efficiently transformed into clean air and ongoing revenue from electricity sales.

The Flex Powerstation™ FP250 reduces capital costs and results in a simpler, more reliable system by minimizing the need for fuel conditioning and compression equipment. These savings are particularly advantageous for biogas applications with high levels of siloxanes and other contaminants. The Flex Powerstation’s™ gradual oxidizer is able to handle siloxanes in the gas without pre-treatment, and can tolerate up to 450ppm of hydrogen sulfide in the fuel gas stream depending on methane content. Even greater savings are realized over the lifetime of the product because of its highly durable industrial grade design, low maintenance and remote monitoring capability.

Federal Digester Applications

FlexEnergy power generating systems are a simple solution for Federal digester projects.  The Flex Powerstation™ FP250 and the Flex Turbine™ MT250 are ideal in their ability to balance efficiency and extremely low emissions with grid-independence for energy security through grid parallel and independent (dual mode) operations.
