Jay Mitchell Joins the Clean Power Generation Company as President and COO

IRVINE, CA, February 16, 2012 – Today, FlexEnergy Inc (www.flexenergy.com), a technology company based in Irvine, California, which designs and manufactures innovative systems capable of producing continuous energy with near-zero emissions from a broad range of fuel sources, announced that the board of directors has appointed Jay Mitchell as the company’s President and Chief Operating Officer. He brings to FlexEnergy his extensive experience in raising capital from third parties to fund near-term growth and expansion. Jay’s initial focus will be on raising capital for FlexEnergy’s continued growth, new product development and commercialization of its technologies.

Prior to his role at T-3, Jay served as Chief Financial Officer of the Latin American Land and E&P services of Pride International, Inc. Most recently, Jay raised approximately $30 million for an energy equipment company where he was a founder.

John Ryan, Chuck Packard and Steve Krablin, Each with Over 30 Years of Industry Experience, Join FlexEnergy Board of Directors

The recently appointed board members include John Ryan, former President  & CEO of Dresser, Inc.; Chuck Packard, President & CEO of INGENCO; and Steve Krablin, former CEO of T-3 Energy Services Inc. and CFO of National Oilwell Varco.

• John Ryan: As President & CEO of Dresser, Inc., Ryan managed and grew the company until its successful sale to General Electric. As a FlexEnergy board member Ryan’s role will be to help with the organization’s strategic planning and sales strategies.

• Chuck Packard: For the past 25 years, Packard, President & CEO of Ingenco, has served as a leader in the field of cogeneration and independent power production in the landfill gas to energy marketplace. At FlexEnergy, Packard will help with installation-specific planning and the de-risking of new equipment.

• Steve Krablin: Prior to T-3 Energy Services Inc., Krablin served as the chief financial officer of National Oilwell Varco from 1996 to 2005. Krablin will use his wealth of financial experience at FlexEnergy, helping to make ongoing improvements and refinements to the company’s financial accounting, controls and reporting.

John Ryan, Chuck Packard and Steve Krablin join FlexEnergy’s seven other esteemed board members, including the Honorable Stephen L. FlexEnergy’s Turbines Will Produce Reliable, Onsite Power That Exceed Highest Air Quality Standards

The FlexEnergy-run project will turn gas from the Santiago Canyon landfill into clean energy to power homes.

The Orange County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved an agreement to turn the decommissioned Santiago Canyon landfill in Orange into a source of renewable energy that will provide methane-based power to local homes. The agreement allows Irvine-based Flex OC Renewables, a subsidiary of FlexEnergy Inc., to move forward with its plans to build a power station fueled by methane produced by decomposing trash in the landfill.

Since the landfill closed in 1988, the garbage has burned off the methane released by its decomposition, releasing the pollutant into the atmosphere. The Santiago Canyon project will progress Orange County’s adaptation to new air quality standards for waste gas emissions, which will take effect in 2013.

FlexEnergy Fills Up With $18M Convertible Debt Round For Growth

FlexEnergy has a long to-do list for this year, as it answers to the growing interest from diverse customers like oil and gas companies, office buildings, and landfills, for its low-emissions micro-turbines. To that end, the company just raised an $18 million convertible debt round, VentureWire has learned.

“The investment is being made to assist us as we expand manufacturing and sales and marketing throughout the country,” said Joseph Perry, chief executive of the Irvine, Calif.-based company.

The company closed a $13 million round in early December from previous investors SAIL Capital and RNS Capital, and a $5 million follow-on more recently from SAIL’s sister fund Louisiana Sustainability Fund, Perry said.
