Joseph Perry

Chief Executive Officer

Joe brings to the company over 25 years experience founding, managing and successfully growing early stage ventures. He has a particular focus on nurturing companies with innovative technologies. Most recently, Joe was a founder of ATECC, a firm developing a modular vehicle structure for electric automobiles. Prior to that, he served as a principal for new business venture investments at Paperboy Ventures in Washington, DC. In this capacity, he served as President for: Applied Linguistics, a natural language internet search engine company; Green Earth, a leader in the sustainable biomarine ingredients industry, based in Oslo, Norway; and WaveCrest Laboratories, which developed a family of innovative propulsion systems for the electric transportation industry. Joe holds a BS degree in Physics from Duquesne University.

 

Jay Mitchell

President and Chief Operating Officer

Jay Mitchell has two decades of experience in Energy-related Equipment Manufacturing Companies, both public and private.  Most recently, he was the CFO and Senior Vice President of T-3 Energy Services Inc., an oilfield products and services business for the drilling and completion of oil & gas wells. T-3 was acquired by Robbins & Myers in January of 2011 at a closing valuation of $597 million. While at T-3, Jay was responsible for partnering with the CEO and board on all strategic issues as well as directly overseeing all financial, human resources and information technology issues including accounting, SEC reporting, Sarbanes Oxley compliance, treasury, tax, budgeting and planning and investor relations. Jay helped build, review and value strategies including facility location and optimization, internal and external growth, product line expansion and changes to customer relationships.

Throughout his career, Jay has had extensive experience in fundraising for major ventures in which he was involved. Prior to his time at T-3, he was the CFO in the spin-off of Pride International Inc.’s Latin American Segment, which was sold to GP Investments Ltd. for one billion dollars in 2007. He served as Director of Investor Relations and Treasurer of Grant Prideco Inc., from 2003 to 2007. Prior to Grant Prideco, Jay served as a Director of International Tax of Azurix Corporation from 1998 to 1999 and International Tax Manager of Arthur Andersen LLP.

Jay graduated Magna Cum Laude from Georgia State University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting and was an honors graduate of the University of Texas earning a master’s degree in Business Administration, Taxation.

 

Daniel P. Whelan

Mr. Whelan has over 30 years of financial and operations experience in numerous high-tech industries, including serving as president and CFO for Evergreen Holdings Co. a company that re-refined used motor oil.  His roles have included active and successful involvement in acquisitions, turnaround situations, debt restructuring, new systems implementation, SEC reporting, public offering, and company reorganizations.  He has served as CFO for KRh Thermal Systems; President and CFO for Evergreen Holdings, Inc.; CFO for Birtcher Medical Systems; CFO for Wespercorp; board member, Motorvac Technologies; Vice president Finance for Cahn Instrument; division controller for Hughes Aircraft Company; and division controller for Fairchild Semiconductor.

 

Paul Fukumoto

Director, Programs

Paul Fukumoto is responsible for the development and execution of FlexEnergy Inc programs. He is also responsible for government grant proposals. Prior to joining FlexEnergy Inc, Paul was Ingersoll Rand’s Field Application Manager implementing distributed generation projects in the U.S. Formerly, he held various system engineering positions for Honeywell Power Systems, Inc., and project management, project and development engineering positions at Allied Signal Engines and Systems.

 

Brett Luedde

Brett Luedde is responsible for the development of FlexEnergy Inc’s sales, marketing, and international distribution. Prior to joining FlexEnergy Inc, Brett built two sales and service related companies and was responsible for all aspects of growing, running, and expanding business. Prior to that, he served as Corporate Energy Manager for Allegheny Technologies, Inc. where he was responsible for over $120 million in annual energy purchases and related services covering 7 operating companies and 57 plants in the U.S. and abroad. In this role he created a comprehensive energy price hedging program and negotiated all energy supply contracts for ATI’s facilities. Brett has held sales, marketing, and business development positions both in the USA and abroad. He lived in England, the Netherlands, and Russia.

 

Mike Levin

Mike Levin is responsible for the FlexEnergy Inc public policy outreach opportunities to local, county, regional, state, and federal agencies, representatives, and staffers. He has most recently served as an attorney at Bryan Cave LLP, focusing his practice on governmental affairs and environmental law. Prior to joining Bryan Cave, Mike was Vice President of a clean technology startup company. Mike is a co-founder and officer of CleanTech OC, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of existing clean tech companies and providing opportunities for future clean tech investments in the Orange County region. Throughout the last decade, Mike has worked on a variety of local, state and national political campaigns. He graduated from Duke Law School and Stanford University and has also completed a Coro Foundation fellowship in Public Affairs.

 

Douglas Hamrin

Doug Hamrin is responsible for the hands-on technical development of the Flex Powerstation™. Prior to joining FlexEnergy Inc, Doug held positions as Technical Manager, Applications for Honeywell Turbo Technologies and as the Director of Fuel Systems at Capstone Turbine Corporation. With more than 20 years of experience in the industry, he has a proven record of product development and launch. At Capstone, the world’s leading turbine manufacturer, he led a team of engineers in fuel system development from concept through production for small gas turbine fuel systems. In addition, Doug has launched two new fuel systems into production, implemented over twenty improvements, and developed three prototype fuel systems.

 

Steve Lampe

Director, Controls

Steve Lampe is responsible for development of the FlexPowerstation™ controls system, including remote monitoring and operational capacity of the Flex. Most of Steve’s 27 years in mechanical engineering have focused on advanced gas turbine applications. Previously, as Director of Oil and Gas Applications for Capstone Turbine Corporation, he was instrumental in the commercial development of turbines for oil and gas, bio-gas and co-generation applications, putting power generation units in the field for coal bed methane pumps, unmanned offshore platforms, wastewater treatment plants and landfills. Steve holds 14 US patents in the area of turbo-machinery controls.

 

Mark Greer

Vice President, Global Services







Mark Greer is responsible for FlexEnergy Inc’s Global Services, which includes delivery, commissioning, continuing support to our customers and reliability improvement. He is responsible for providing excellent commissioning services, field service and support for FlexEnergy Inc’s customers along with onsite and remote support of each of our installations. Mark currently manages over 225 turbines globally in landfills, wastewater treatment plants, oil fields, pyrolysis applications, hospitals, and other CHP and direct-fired turbine projects.

Mark has over 39 years of experience including 23 years with Ingersoll Rand (IR), as a Global Service Manager for IR Energy Systems, and also as a Service Manager, Technical Service, and Product Engineering Specialist for IR Air Solutions. He is based in Concord, NC.

 

Boris Maslov, Ph.D.

Boris is the Vice President of Corporate Development. Prior to joining FlexEnergy Inc, Boris was the CEO of Energy One, a renewable energy project development company. He has served as CEO of several technology and financial companies, as well as CTO of WaveCrest Laboratories, a manufacturing company specializing in electric transportation markets.

As a leading Russian scientist, Dr. Maslov spent his early career working in Moscow for various organizations, including the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, the Foreign Policy Association established by Edward Shevardnadze, and the Soviet-American Foundation Cultural Initiative established by George Soros. Dr. Maslov is a senior member of IEEE and holds more than 30 US and international patents.

 

James H. Watts

Director, Product Management

James is the Director of Product Management and is responsible for managing the company’s product portfolio and offerings to the market.

Prior to joining FlexEnergy Inc, James worked for Ingersoll Rand in a variety of roles including director of product strategy, director of marketing, and business development and marketing manager.  He also served as marketing manager for Northern Research and Engineering Corporation (NREC), a formerly wholly-owned subsidiary of Ingersoll Rand, with marketing responsibility for all of NREC’s activities including turbomachinery development, manufacturing, and CAE/CAM software.

James previously worked as a member of the Sponsored Research Staff at M.I.T.’s Energy Laboratory. He is also a co-founder of Geneva Group, a systems integration firm. He is based in Portsmouth, NH.

 

Mark G. Schnepel

Director of Manufacturing

Mark is the Director of Manufacturing and his responsibilities include managing turbine production and facilities in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and managing recuperator production in Mocksville, North Carolina.

Mark has over 14 years of manufacturing and development experience in the turbo machinery and electronics packaging industries.  Before joining FlexEnergy Inc, Mark worked for Ingersoll Rand Energy Systems and has 10 years in production and development of gas turbine generators. Prior to Ingersoll Rand, Mark worked as a production engineer for the Tech-Ceram Corporation, a high volume electronics package manufacturer.  He is based in Portsmouth NH.

 

John Alday

John is the VP of Engineering at FlexEnergy Inc, bringing over 20 years of experience in product development and implementation of leading-edge technologies.  John is responsible for product and technology development, and product and manufacturing engineering.

He has over 19 years of experience with Ingersoll Rand in the air compressor and turbine businesses. In addition to his position as Director of Global Engineering and Recuperators, he also held staff level leadership positions with responsibility for operations, facility management and project delivery. Formerly, John was a field engineer for Schlumberger Well Services, providing engineering services in the Gulf of Mexico on exploration drilling rigs. John holds two patents and is based in Charlotte, NC.
